UE4: Trailed – StudentProject

This is amazing UE4 based student project. It is quite incredible when you look at all of the content.

Details:

“We are proud to show you our capstone student project “Trailed” that we produced this semester at NAD.

Trailed is a real-time narrative experience game slice set in an undetermined post-apocalyptic fully dynamic environment made in UE4.5.0. This 7 student’s capstone project was made in 14weeks with the goal of pushing our design, artistic and technical abilities to the limit.”

UE4-based Nvidia Apollo 11 VXGI Demo

Nvidia has put out a downloadable demo for people with Maxwell GPUs that recreates the Apollo 11 moon landing. It’s all powered by Unreal Engine 4 but I have to say, I’ve seen much more impressive visuals in other UE4 demos.

Evilmrfrank: Unreal Engine 4 Futuristic City Scene

Evilmrfrank has a long running thread on the UE4 forums where he documents his initial foray into UE4. He’s known for some killer maps for the UT series and it’s a treat to watch his thought process as he works through the development of a sci-fi city scene in the video below.

For more info, you can check out the UE4 thread HERE.

Unreal Engine 4.5 Released!

At long last, Unreal Engine 4.5 has been released! Epic has been porting the new UT over to 4.5 for a while now which has made it difficult for subscribers (and UT project fans) to stay in sync without recompiling engine source.

We can now finally upgrade the engine and start syncing the UT project again. Version 4.5 brings significant capability into the UT project with the most prominent being support for bots.

The pace of Unreal Engine development continues to astonish with massive additions and improvements with every release. With the 4.4 release, Epic’s Unreal Engine developer army has added some items that will be critical to completion of the new Unreal Tournament.

A new behavior tree editor will allow the development of AI behavior using blueprint-style tools. New marketplace content includes the Landscape Mountains created with World Machine as seen in the screenshot below. Read more about the release HERE.

Unreal Engine 4.3 Released

Epic’s UE4 army of developers has pushed out over 500 changes in the 4.3 release. The amount of continuous improvement in the technology is amazing. This version now has movable skylight capability which should be quite fun to use for dynamic level effects.

Google I/O 2014: Unreal Engine 4 “Rivalry” Demo

Epic was at Google I/O this week, showing off optimizations in UE4 for Android-based mobile devices. It really is quite insane what is possible graphically on a handheld device!
