One of the top UT3 mappers, Stevelois, teased a new work-in-progress map for UT4 on his website today.
Great to see Steve getting into the Unreal Engine 4 editor and starting a map for UT4!

Epic released a trailer along with DM-Underland yesterday. Pay close attention…. there’s a robot in there!
Epic released a new build today which at long last contains the meshed version of DM-Tuba.The map is now called DM-Underland and it is incredibly beautiful as expected!
The changelog is relatively short on this build but hopefully it will calm down a few of the more vocal types for a few minutes…
As many of you know, after the May 12th UT update, all community maps were broken due to the 4.12 engine update. This is always a “fun” time for server admins since loading custom maps is a very time consuming effort.
Compounding the problem is the fact that it looks like raxxy shutdown the Rushbase UT file server for good. Rushbase was nice to have for several reasons since it not only provided a place for mappers to upload their maps, but it also doubled as redirect (cloud-based no less) for server admins. Now, admins are back to an ad hoc system of creating their own redirect servers and loading the maps on them. Hopefully Epic will step up to the plate and provide a permanent redirect solution at some point.
The best way to get these is to go into the hub and click on the Download All Content button and then go do something else until all files are downloaded :).
Here are the current community DeathMatch maps installed on the Hub as of 5/21/16:
ConradJustin has posted an update in the UT Forums to his incredible map, DM-Broken. If you have ever attempted to build 3D assets before, make sure to strap yourself to your chair before watching this video (otherwise, you will fall off, hit the floor and be muttering incoherently…).
Over the last week I’ve been working on an all-new map shell for UT4. This is a very early WIP but I wanted to get it out in the wild and start playing it to see how it plays.
Version A1.3 is already on the UC Hub ready to go. Follow the forum thread HERE (also a download link in the forum thread).
There’s an update to SpaceNoxx both on the UC Hub and in the forums. Lots of small changes that should improve gameplay a bit. Visually, it is getting grungier to look more like the asteroid mining platform its supposed to be.
In the image below, you can see better site lines and movement on the sides due to moving the mount points of the support structure.
Today’s @utgame project stream was quite fascinating with discussion revolving around the upcoming build, in addition to two new maps on the way.
Regarding the next game update (which potentially could be released tomorrow), the biggest change is the conversion from a capsule-type player collision to a cylinder. This will be very interesting to see how this plays but hopefully it provides more consistent hit registration.
Also in the new build is the addition of new status indicators near the crosshair. The community feedback on this should be interesting :). Lastly, Steve mentioned that there are now death sounds for the first time in this UT so that should be fun!
In terms of new map releases, Chris Kay showed off a new gimmick map called DM-BioTower that looks like Morbias with a Bio twist. Could be fun for a few laughs like er, um, SpaceNoxx :).
The highlight of the stream was the reveal of what looks to be a nearly completed, meshed out, DM-Tuba (soon to be renamed). Looks very Unreal-y which is great! Watch the replay of the stream (now with chat replay!) HERE.
I’ve updated SpaceNoxx to A2-13. It has subtle lighting improvements and other small gameplay tweaks. It is installed on the UC Hub and you can also download it from the forum thread.
Please provide feedback in the Epic forum thread if you can.
I’ve updated DM-UC-SpaceNoxx to version A2-10 for @utgame. It’s currently available on the UC Hub and you can also download from the forum thread link. Still quite a long way to go to get it complete but at least its back in the game and somewhat playable.
